Prototype

The first production aircraft (called pre-production ) on each production line acted as a test bed for production techniques and airlines.
The changes between prototype and pre-production had a significant impact on the flight developement programme. These changes were necessary to make Concorde commercially viable. Extra cost and delays in the flight-test programme resulted.
