Concorde: a pit to billion?

The Franco-British supersonic adventure unleash many passions when at the cost of the program. It is true that the investments were colossal and that it has been a commercial failure (fourteen orders for soixante-quatorze options of purchase). But if one makes the assessment, on this twentieth anniversary, the balance is positive. Here some parmis examples of the hundreds of repercussions:

AERONAUTIQUE
The Airbus family: ATR, light alloy aluminium AU2GN, heavy-duty steel, titanium, glass, Teflon, honeycomb, electric orders of flight, mini-handle, miniaturization of the circuits, systems of automatic test bench for the detection of breakdowns (A.T.E.C)

CAR
Oils synthetic, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, control rods and cables, electric and electronic component, Viton and Teflon.

INDUSTRY
Machine tools with numerical controls, automation of the production control, planning by study of the critical paths, tests and control of corrosion, steels and metals improved, electric and electromagnetic circuits, miniaturization, antennas...

LIFE OF EVERY DAY
Teflon (domestic equipment), miniaturization (pacemaker), given weather, circuits of air-conditioning, glass fibres and control surfaces metal for the boats of plaisance...Tout this gave place to many patents and contracts (with the United States, China, the USSR, Great Britain, the FRG or of the companies like Lockheed, Boeing, MDONNELL Douglas, Lmt, CNES, all the airlines: Swissair, KLM, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, etc) which use quotidiennent at the same time for their Airbus but also for their Boeing (Bench test A.T.E.C developed in Toulouse by Aérospatiale).
