TRUTH ABOUT CONCORDE : NOISE
è Vers histoire
11/22/77
A New York court ruled against the objectors last month after sensitive noise-measuring instruments showed that Boeing 747 was a bit louder than Concorde and a Boeing 727 was a bit quieter. click here to go to history
Here two graphics representing the noise level of several planes on takeoff and approach. Contrary to all one could hear, Concorde is not as noisy as that (in normal use).
Curve showing the level of noise produced by various jets at the moment of takeoff and in survol,à 6 500 meters of releasing brakes.
It will be noticed that concordes it less noisy than some subsonic aircraft.
The red feature represents the limit of the noise accepted by the new standard FAR-36 which, if it was applied would prohibit the use of a good number of current planes.
Even comparison measured in approach,
to 1 852 meters of the runway entry.

In normal use:
In the majority of the cases, the control towers give to Concorde a stage (level of altitude to be reached after takeoff) higher than the other planes because it can go there and very quickly. The only black point of this operation is the use of the afterburning which is strongly noisy.
